Clinisys has announced its acquisition of Orchard Software, a move that consolidates two leaders in the laboratory informatics system (LIS) market. This partnership aims to enhance the laboratory informatics landscape by delivering advanced software solutions tailored for the global diagnostics sector.

Billie Whitehurst, CEO of Orchard, expressed enthusiasm about the merger, highlighting that it represents a significant advancement in their mission to equip laboratory professionals with essential tools for delivering high-quality care. She emphasized that Clinisys shares this commitment and possesses the global reach and innovative capabilities necessary to further their shared goals.

Michael Simpson, CEO of Clinisys, welcomed Orchard into the Clinisys family, noting the company’s extensive experience in laboratory informatics spanning over 45 years. He outlined Clinisys's strategy to evolve cloud-based laboratory solutions and emphasized that acquiring Orchard’s established offerings in physician offices, reference labs, and veterinary settings aligns perfectly with their objectives. Together, they aim to enhance service delivery across the entire spectrum of laboratory and diagnostic customers, ultimately contributing to healthier communities worldwide.

Orchard Software was acquired by Francisco Partners in 2019, which has since driven a strategic transformation within the company. This transformation included modernizing Orchard’s product offerings, improving cloud capabilities, and strengthening its leadership team.

The merger of Orchard’s LIS portfolio with Clinisys’s laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and diagnostic solutions is expected to create new opportunities for customers in North America and beyond.
